A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera – Say Something
The first shot in this video is a shot which pans upwards in
a large dark room to show a man playing a piano. We could use something similar
to this in our video especially as the song we have chosen to use begins with
two piano notes.
There is then a cut to two people laid on a bed. I
particularly like the shot of them from directly above however I don’t feel
this will be possible for us to achieve because we don’t have any form of crane
to use.
Then there is a close up of the artist singing. This is a
conventional aspect of music videos so we will definitely use this.
There is a strong beat on the piano and the video cuts on
almost every beat as it is slow paced at this point.
We then get a long shot of the other artist who looks as
though she has been put under a spotlight, which looks really effective in the
dark room. This is very do-able for us and I think it would work well with our
song and genre.
Then we get two shots which relate directly to the lyrics.
They say “I am feeling so small” and we get a shot of a little girl, then “over
my head” as the little girl throws the blanket over her head. We could do this
very easily and it shows the audience that the video does have meaning to the
song.
The artist singing into the camera shows that this is a performance-based
video.
Here we have another high angle shot above two people on a
bed. I feel a shot like this works very well in showing the relationship
between the two people in the shot.
Then there is a shot where the old man is clearly more in-focus
than the woman, this could represent the fact that she is ill which we can also
tell by the hospital-like setting.
On one of the really hard beats, we have a low angle shot of
the pianists foot stomping onto the ground, this could easily be done by us and
it emphasises the important parts of the music.
2.22 into the video we get the first shot of the two
singers. This wont apply to our music video as we only have one singer.
