Use of props

These were some prop ideas we might need for our MV. We were thinking of having a shot of Morgan’s foot standing on a photo frame with a couple photo in it and breaking it, we think the broken glass will give a really good outcome and the audience will be able to interpret the meaning in several ways.

We also had the idea of using powder paint. For this, we will have to purchase some online before shooting our video. We have agreed to split the cost 3 ways, as we will probably need a fair amount of it for it to have the intended effect.

We need a sledgehammer for the shot of the stereo being smashed on the lyrics about the music dying.

The stereo we are using is an old one, which is what we want for both the classic look and the fact that it will be destroyed for the purpose of the video.

We are going to start a bonfire in the safety of my back garden to show Morgan burning the dresses/ photos/ all memories of the lost relationship.

We are also using Alisha’s vinyl for one shot just to add more of the classic look we want to tie in with the rural setting.

Shot types in our video

In our initial shot list, we tried to incorporate as many different types of shots as we could. We found that the most frequent shot we wanted to use was extreme close-ups. I think this is because it is a convention of the music videos we have researched. We also used long shots and extreme long shots. These were to show the artist in her whole costume and so that we could capture her body language which will help to portray the emotions coming through the lyrics she is singing. We also had ideas of using low angle and high angle shots to make Morgan appear more powerful in some parts of the video and vulnerable in others. We will try to use a range of shots to show our understanding.

GROUP POST - Makeup

These two makeup looks are both looks we would like to have our artist wearing in our video. The first look is quite casual yet classy, which is what our TA wanted. This first look will most likely be used during the first few shots when she is being portrayed as weak and vulnerable after the heartbreak. I think the more made-up look could be used in the shots when we are trying to show how she is starting to gain her strength back without him. Also the red lipstick has the connotation of sexiness (which our TA wanted) and it is quite fierce, this suggests she isn't to be messed with because she is now strong and independent.
